Since its establishment on the 26 March 1839, this iconic event has garnered an elite following and reputation as the best-known regatta in the world. With over 300 races of an international standard including both new racers and those of Olympic standard, it offers a fantastic day to be had by all. Where is Henley Royal Regatta held?

The Regatta is held on a stretch of the River Thames, with the official address being White Hill, Henley-on-Thames RG9 2LY. The race course spans 1 mile, 550 yards (2,112 metres) from Temple Island upstream to Henley Bridge. There are a number of marquees, stands and spectator areas spread along the river where you can watch the races.

Where can I purchase tickets for Henley Royal Regatta?

Tickets for Henley Royal Regatta can be purchased on their website and there are a variety of packages to choose from. You can select general admission, reserved seating or opt for one of the exclusive enclosures. The Stewards Enclosure is for members and their guests and includes a number of exclusive eateries, bars, art gallery & prize tent. The Regatta Enclosure is located on Henley Beach right on the race course and offers riverside seating, an open grandstand, covered restaurants, outside dining area and bar. Ticket prices range from £34-£56 per person with under 14s free when accompanying a paying adult. 

How do I get to Henley Royal Regatta?

Getting to Henley Royal Regatta couldn’t be easier. The Stewards’ and Regatta Enclosures are situated on the Berkshire bank, within easy walking distance of Henley Train Station and the town itself. Trains run frequently from London Paddington, with Great Western Railways offering a dedicated timetable for Henley Regatta. 

You can also get the bus, with the closest station being a 10-minute walk from the Enclosures. The easiest and most comfortable way to get to Henley Regatta however, is via a luxury car service. 

When you’re dressed in your finery (as is encouraged) you don’t want to be crammed onto public transport, getting hot and sweaty in the crowds or your outfit getting rumpled. What you need to know about the day

Over the duration of the Regatta, you can expect 26 events over 5 categories – Open Events, Intermediate Events, Club Events, Student Events and Junior Events. The Open Events are open to the elite rowers including Olympians, Intermediate serve as a bridge between club and open-level competition, Club for those that are members of rowing clubs, Student for those enrolled in higher education institutes and Junior events for those aged 18 and under. Provisional daily racing times are 9am-7:30pm Tuesday to Friday, 10am-7:30pm Saturday and 11am-4:30pm Sunday. Enclosures open 30 minutes before the start of the racing except on Sunday when they open from 10am. As well as watching the races, you can also visit the Prize tent, meander round the art gallery, peruse the shop and drink and dine in the bars and restaurants. The atmosphere is guaranteed to be electric
